Maybe another variant of this Idea for your team discussion:
Google Maps offers the fastest way to home including considering traffic etc. You can always use this in any navigation app, so it has a limited added value - the only thing you save is switching the app and pressing that button.
My proposal would be to have a button “Fastest way to route end”. If home is your route end location, it would have the same effect. If you are on a multiple day tour away from home, it would probably be the place where you spend the night (camp/hotel…).
Now imagine the following situation - you are somewhere on the road without a shelter nearby and the rain starts and you decide to abort the planned route. You do not remember the hotel name and would need to find it first on a paper in your luggage or in a pocket below your rain protection gear or in an email on your handy or (best case) in your well organized favorites. Then you try to type or select the destination and plan a new route with your wet fingers on a wet touchscreen… not fun at all. This would be a much bigger added value (especially given the potential environmental conditions), than just adding “Take me home” option.
Implementation proposal: add a “long press” to the existing “Skip” button to skip all via points and set the type of route to “Fastest” and maybe remove some avoidances (using same road, main roads, motorways) and keep the others (toll roads, ferries…).
Off topic: Could in the future the descriptions of all planned features that we can vote for always be available in english language (as well)? A large non-german speaking part of the community is passively excluded from giving their votes because of the language barrier. I know there are translators, but it would be better if Kurviger team could translate the actual proposal once before you put it to vote, rather than expecting everyone to translate insividually.
