Manual route planning made easy please!

I like to manually plan my routes from paper, online and Kurgviger maps themselves. I.e. drag the route around, add detours etc without the entire route changing etc - this is not simple with Kurviger and creates a good deal of frustration. I am new to the app and understand alot of this can be done with Shaping Points and turning off Rerouting by Skip to next waypoint. I understand many users will rely on the algorithms to plan the route but for when you want to manually intervene Kurviger can have you swearing at it…

Hi!
I use Kurviger only for manual route planning and never use one of the automatic route functions. Thus, let me tell you there is no other way than working with some additional shaping points to make the navigation following your prefered route.
In other route planning software you should have the same issue … it is not a specific issue of the Kurviger App.

I recommend watching a couple of Videos on Kurviger YouTube channel to ger you started (choose more recent ones over those piblished 3 years ago).

This should get you started quickly. Kurviger is actually quite simple to use, but may not be immediately intuitive to everyone.

Otherwise, maybe you can explain what exactly is causing the frustration, I am sure you will find some help here on the Forum.

FFS! Why is this app so crap! Paid for Tourer+ and it does not let you move routes around and plan as you want! Even using shaping and way points this stupid app will reroute you somewhere you dont want it to… trouble is most of the other apps are shite too…Heres a thought, drag your route to where you want it to go or right click pin and between those two pins that’s the effing route and dont tell me shaping does that because it doesn’t. … and there’s no undo! So your route gets completely messed up due to the fuckwit software and you have to unpick the fucking thing…Put a feature in for MANUAL ROUTING and make it WORK!!! Do any of the developers actually ride a motorbike and plan routes? I would use Calimoto but those bozo’s cant get the road numbers to display on the map…another bunch of idiots

This is a friendly forum. Constructive criticism is fine, but please remain objective.
You had the opportunity to test the app before paying.

  • Planning is free of charge
  • For navigation (Tourer+) there is a 7 days test period.

There is an undo feature
I met two of the developers on a motorbike tour, so yes, they do ride motorbikes.

I object to paying for an app that does not work and if they ride a motorbike then they obviously don’t use Kurviger to plan a ride. Planning is a nightmare with the route being changed in un-intended ways when use shaping and way points – honestly you should be paying me for the stress it has caused. Planning is completely un-intuitive and even with the use of shaping and waypoints it has a mind of its own. Like I said drives me mad, I have had enough and binned it and cancelled my subscription… if you made a product that worked well for planning routes and didn’t have you screaming at the PC screen you would have many more subscribers

@rod955i
Unfortunately, your statements do not help us to understand the actual problem you are having.

I understand that you want to plan a nice route. With Shaping Point, you can shape your route. If you just want to get from A to B, all you need to do is set a simple start and destination.

I suspect that you haven’t really spent much time planning a route so far.

I can’t really understand what is making you so dissatisfied. Perhaps you could share a Kurviger link to one of your routes and explain what is bothering you about it.

By the way:
Please also reconsider your choice of words here in the forum. As Linux-user already mentioned, this is a very helpful forum when the criticism is constructive.

P. S.
I also ride a motorbike and plan and ride with Kurviger, and it works great.

If you hit the nail with the wrong end of hammer, neither nail nor hammer is causing the stress.

If you are having trouble planing the route in Kurviger, there is plenty of users here that are ready and willing to help.

If you have a specific technical problem that other users cannot help you with, the developers are reading as well and will try to solve issue.

Reading rants is not much fun for any of us here.

Kurviger is free of charge for planning so anyone can try if it suits his/hers needs without paying a cent, completely without any time pressure. Full feature set can be tried out for 7 days without having to commit to a subscription.

What I can read from your posts is that you are still not quite used to the user interface.

Undo function is located here:

It works slightly differently than in some other apps (e.g., it disappears rather then gray-out if there is nothing to undo).
There is also Route history function which is can be also used to quickly retrive previously planned routes. Sutrisingly (for me) even when you retrive one of the previous routes from the history it still has it`s own undo history.

Now, I do not know what you mean with MANUAL ROUTING, but many of us here understand using via- and shaping points as manual routing. This may have some special points to observe (like where do you place them and where preferably not), but it is nothing that you cannot learn or what should be causing any stress.

So - ask a concrete question like “how do I route from A to B through C and D?” and you will find help here.

Not wasting my time with this anymore - have cancelled my subscription - but as an example to all the fanboys who think this is a good route planning application. I have created a circular route using waypoints, over the roads I want. No small feat given the app is entirely arbitrary on how those waypoints are connected, even more so when shaping points are added. Now I want to add a detour which includes so more nice roads within that loop without losing the overall route or being sent somewhere I dont want. Nope nothing I do prevents the stupid app from replanning the entire route or adding unnecessary routes. LIke I said have binned it…and signed up to MyrouteApp which is much easier to use.

It’s your choice. You can also delete your account on this forum.

Yep agreed, I was but have cancelled my subscription so no longer one… the law of software development is simple. Build it and they will come. On the other hand build garbage and it is put in the bin.

The discussion has reached a satisfactory conclusion, so this thread is now closed.
