Try zoom level 16 and your POIs disappear. 
You should really give the new-auto-zoom-feature a try 
Auto-zoom has improved since 1.1.19 significantly.

In Einstellungen -> Navigation -> Auto-Zoom you can set min zoom-level and max zoom-level
I have set max to 16 and min to 14.
