POI's during Navigation

Hi,

This year i started using Kurviger as navigation on a Android Auto device

I have some requests related to POI s

  1. You should be able to select a couple of POI categories to make them visible in case they are near the route.
    Like Restaurants, Gas stations, Hotels

  2. The POI Icons should be bigger.
You currently see all sorts of POI’s but they are so small that you can hardly recognize them.

  3. This second item could be an option for POI’s you prefere to see.

Hi @Castellum,
we are always open to user requests, but in order for us to better understand it: What is the specific use case? Are you primarily interested in faster orientation while on the road (e.g. spontaneous stops) since you state the symbols of the OSM POIs are too small for this? Do you need the POIs to be permanently displayed along the route, or only when approaching them?

All good questions

Yes, It is about spontaneous searches.
Whe tend to plan our routes but not our stops..
So when we think it’s time to have lunch it is essential to be able to find a restaurant, when we need gas, search for a gas station etc.

I now need to switch from Kurviger to Google to search for those POIs
I’d prefer to be be to see them in Kurviger though.

In Google you can select categories to show on the map.
Same for Garmin devices like the XT series.

For me the Garmin method works the best. Select three categories and you will see Poi’s part of those categories on the map.
Problem with Garmin is the accuracy of the data. It is often outdated.

So a similar method but supported by up to date, preferably online data would be great.

I understand that you want POIs such as restaurants etc. to be displayed while navigating and find the currently offered icons too small for this purpose (and not only the categories you need are displayed). Check, I’ll take that with me

However, if your current workaround is to switch to Google maps search, can’t you search in Kurviger just as easily? The advantage of Kurviger is that you can actually search along your route though.

Sorry for the late response

Why not search in Kurviger.
It is not so mutch about searching
It is about having them on the map

But you did trigger me here.
So I here did a search while sitting on the couch.
Searched for ‘Hotel’. The size of these search icons are much bigger than the default icons in the osm map.
On the left for example you see the tiny icon of a gas station. Tiny compared to the Search Hotel icons anyway.
How great would it be of you can Select one, two or three categories and see those categories like here in the search result. Gasstations, Hotels, Restaurants
But only the ones near to the route you are driving.
For that you would need to have some proximity parameter.
Like for example, within 5km from the route.
Of you select 3 categories a color for each category would also be fantastic.

And I forgot one thing.
The screenshot I provided is on the phone. Like your example in your response.
My question is related to Navigating with Kurviger on Android Auto.
When searching on Android auto the results are only shown as a list. Not on the map.
And that is an essential part of the requirement

This is all i can do in Android Auto.

So yes,

What you can present poos like the search results as on the Smartphone App thar would already help a lot on AA.
And if you could select one or couple of categories and keep them on the map that would be great.

This is possible for a single category, you can ask Kurviger to show for example hotels or fuel stations along your route.
