Hi, I’ve noticed, that recorded rides have really edgy track. So I looked into the GPX file. It seems Kurviger App on android makes a position recording only every 4 seconds, which produces big straight lines (gaps) in the recording. E.g. at 100kph 4 seconds is more than 100 meters.
So is there a way to narrow the recording interval to a standard 1 second?
Why was 4 second interval chosen, or may be it’s a bug?
Hello, it is not unusual for a track point not to be logged every second. This is usually not necessary for road navigation either. I can’t say why Kurviger decided to do this, but you always have to find a good compromise between data volume and battery load. If you use a track as a route, the route is mapped exactly on the road. However, there are no gaps. If you have gaps, please show us an example. Gaps only occur if there is no GPS signal.
We decided not to log every location update, we filter by a few different criteria. If you log every update, you get a lot more data, but not necessarily a lot more helpful information. The data should be good enough to allow riding the same route again and see where you have been on a trip, which is to goal of the route recording. If there are any issues with our approach, please be so kind to provide examples to better understand the issue. It can happen that a curve is connected with a straight line, that said, more location updates in many cases don’t improve the details that much.
Thanks for the answer. I’m satisfied with it:)
