The idea here is to set your prefered (and persistent) setting in the Settings menu (same for the map orientation). The settings you make during navigation are intended as temporary and last until you stop the navigation. Does it make sense? For me - no, but I am not bothered, as I do not change my mind about them very often (they are mostly OFF). This “feature” apparently creates a bit of confusion among users. I would assume that less users would complain if the settings remain permanent (you have to switch off what you switched on yourself and vice-versa) than if it automatically resets (you select what you want and then it resets, then you have to figure out that you have to go to completely other place in settings and change it there to keep it permanent - absolutely non-intuitive for new users).
I wish the “Skip” on the main screen. I do not use sound on/off at all during navigation. So I guess some kind of configurable button could be a compromise.
Currently not possible within AA/Google UI. I wish the team would invest a bit more time to find a compromise solutiin for this. Feel free to contribute with ideas here: Display Destination and Via-Point information on AA&CP - #3 by boldtrn
So far my attempts to persuade @boldtrn to pioneer to the limits of what is allowed on AA were quite unsuccesful.
