That is not yet implemented in Android Auto. It is also my wish, but the goal is apparently to first establish reliable base functionality for both - Android Auto and Carplay and then add features to them. I guess we need a bit patience for this to happen.
Best practice:
stop and take out your phone
use the search for gas stations (it can be done during the active navigation)
Since you are using 702BS - are you using Wonderwheel with it? If so - how does that work for you at the moment? The team cannot fulfill every wish that we have, but they value constructive feedback. Also some Forum members would beefit to learn about ups and downs from the first hand.
The wheel has a steep learning curve.
I’ve been using it for three days only and it seems to cover all functions but it is pretty challenging to remember what move triggers what function in each seperate situation.
And you need to learn how to recognise in what level you are operating
You operate in multiple levels.
Device level
Android Auto level
App level
Some functions involve timers.
Press the turn signal activates the Android Auto level. So the wheel operates those function.
Wait 5 seconds
The wheel operates the App you are using.
Device is probably for special fuctions of 702BS…
But what is the difference between AA level and App level?
Does the AA level mean that the cursor “jumps out” from the App window and you can select to start another app, switch to split-screen and operate the widget at the bottom of the screen? And after 5 seconds, the control returns to the app window automatically?
On Android Auto, you would notrmally use UP/DOWN keys to move between app controls and AA controls, which is a major difference to Carplay, where you need only three keys to access everything.
I haven’t grasped it all yet.
For me Android Auto is new.
In device level you have the BMW Motorbike Dashboard and the Motorbike Info screen.
Same as the TFT screen.
You have a menu where you can operate stuf like play music, make phone calls, outside Android Auto.
And you can start Android Auto or Car play there.
Also the Brightness and Sound levels can be adjusted there.
And yes.
In AA mode you switch between the APP and AA level using the turn signal.
In some mode you have two app screens next to each other. Nav and Spotify. Not clear to me what and how to switch between those.
Within the NAV app the scrol wheel runs through the individual buttons.
Sometimes, for example the search screen in Nav mode you use the turn signal to switch between entry field and the return button.
