This is a complicated topic. I think my last research state is, that this won’t work, unless you can connect the BarButtons to Android Auto directly and control AA with it. The question is, can you connect external devices to your AA device, and I think in most cases this is not possible.

The only way I managed to use BarButtons & Co. with AA is using an intermediate Android-Box (e.g., Carlinkit Tbox UHD) which emulates AA on an AA display. This setup will work if you can connect the Tbox with a cable to AA Display (in my case Honda display), which is not possible with most aftermarket AA displays. So there is a way, but it is not straightforward by any means and it is questionable if it’s worth the money and trouble.

@boldtrn there was a question from my side several months ago, if it would be possible to directly zoom with volume keys while the App is running on AA display. Have you maybe tried this out?

With your first release of AA I noticed Barbuttons was working on AA, if you were leaving the phone screen unlocked, and Kurviger on screen on the phone (if i remember well there was no map on the phone but only a note that said: look on AA screen). The moment the screen was locked you were losing this functionality on AA. Using Barbutton after the locked screen it was leading only to activate the password login menu on the unlocked screen.

This is why I was dreaming, because i saw barbutton working and i thought a workaround was possible.

With the latest release there is a map on the phone and on the AA screen, now Barbuttons has effect only on the phone map.

Yes, see below

The first version had the Map on both screens. And yes, this is correct and the only way that I am aware of that would work. So if just start the app on AA, or if you don’t have the screen unlocked and the Kurviger app open on your smartphone, it won’t work.

We currently don’t have this implemented, it doesn’t seem to be super helpful, especially, since we would have to keep the screen active, which most users would not want for battery and burn in reasons.
