Currently, in Android Auto and Carplay it is not possible to display ETA, TTG and DTG information for destination and next via-point simultaneously:
This is imposed by Google and Apple UI and there is little Kirviger can do to get rid of this restriction.
Kurviger has implemented the ability to select between displaying Destination and VP information while riding. This is a good feature, however it is a bit impractical for use while riding.
There were already at least two proposals, how to mitigate this shortcoming:
- Integrate the data into the map, similarely like TomTom does. According to the AA design guidelines this is not allowed and should not be able to pass the Google review. Nevertheless, TT apparently found a grey area (or has good lawyers) and was able to do it.
- Second proposal was to implement the option to toggle between VP and destination information with a period of couple of seconds. IMHO, this is not forbidden and could possibly be implemented, but Kurviger team is apparently not very enthusiastic about it.
I would like to make one new proposal:
3. When user closes the menu (any of them - navigation, settings, petrol station…) or starts the navigation, the app could breifly show the “other” information (e.g., if the VP information is displayed permanently, then show for 3-4 seconds the destination information and then switch to VP). This way no additional buttons or menus would be needed and the user could relatively simply get the information “on-demand”.
What do you think about these solution proposals? Which one would you prefer if you could choose? Are there any other ideas?
