We already have a possibility to select mutiple routes or recordings from one folder and perform a cople of actions on those selections.
My proposal is to add ability to add the selection as a single overlay. Kurviger already has the ability to create overlays from multiple routes and tracks contained in a GPX file or a cloud folder, so the underlying “technology” already exists.
Benefits / example use cases:
- Assuming a multiple day Tour is split in day tours and stored in a single cloud folder. The user could (multiple) select odd day tours and add them as a red overlay, then select even day tours and add them as green overlay. This way it would be possible to visually diferentiate different days using only two overlays, without having to create two folders or exercise time consuming GPX exports and merging.
- User could add only needed recorded rides as a single overlay instead of using one overlay per recording or having to display all recordings from the past couple of years.
Bottom line: the function would add a bit more flexibility to managing overlay information, and help avoid time consuming workarounds.
It would not solve all the problems and fulfill all the wishes, still I would see it as a quick win that could be easily integrated into the existing UI (just one more item in the existing menus).
Implement overlay renaming, assign auto-generated name (see proposals 2 and 3) and prompt user to replace it with his own.
Auto generated name that enumerares the selection from a folder (there could be more than one multi-select overlay), indicates the number of selected routes, followed by the name of the folder. (e.g., “02_3_Summer 2026” for 2nd selection with 3 routes from the folder “Summer 2026”)
just prefix the folder name with an unique ID (e.g., “MS12_Summer 2026”)
