Feature request: precise avoidance

It would be great to be able to set the avoidance options a bit more precise. For example - it would be fine for me to avoid motorways completely except when it’s a really quick shortcut - no longer than a few kilometers.
So maybe an option to set the limit certain roads to preset number of kilometers per whole trip?
I’m also not sure if British dual carriageways are treated here as the motorways or main roads and what means avoidance levels 1-5 ? That is unclear.

Hi unclelongbeard and welcome to Kurviger forum :slightly_smiling_face:

Please use the avoidances solely if the routing algorithm does not provide the desired result. Kurviger is designed for motorbikes, means when you choose ‘curvy’ or ‘extra curvy’ there is usually no need to set the avoidance for motorways.

My recommendation: set only unpaved roads (maybe also toll roads if necessary) and closed roads in the avoidances. The rest will be done by Kurviger - if this does not work for you or if you have a sample route I will be happy to double check.

cheers

That makes sense, but sometimes on rare occasions I want something a bit different. I want to get from A to B using the fastest/shortest route but still avoiding motorways, however not at all cost. It happened many times to me with various sat navs, that when the app/device try to avoid motorways it choose much longer route even if in reality going on the motorway for 2km would just work and make the route way shorter. I don’t know if that makes sense to you. That’s why I would like to have that option - to avoid motorways, but allow it for the minor shortcuts.

Another scenario would be for example city centres.

I’ll give you sample scenario: every year I go from Coventry area to Dover for my european trip. Obviously I know that route very well, so I don’t need directions really but let’s imagine someone wants to do it for the first time. I never seen the sat nav which works well for that, Kurviger included. On this specific route there is zero reasonable options to avoid London ring road M25. However, other than that, almost the whole rest of the route could use country roads. The closest I can get to this scenario is when I choose “fast and curvy” routing with level 2 avoiding motorways. But still: created route is far from optimal by any means.

I hope it’s more understandable now
