How to Use the Onboard GPS Antenna from an Alfa Stelvio

With Android Auto, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio already has two navigation systems: TomTom and Google Maps. However, both automatically reroute if the route is deviated from.

With the Kurviger app and Garmin hardware, you can configure this by asking before recalculating the route.

Unfortunately, Kurviger’s implementation in Android Auto is such that Android Auto only displays the app’s information, and the phone uses its own GPS.

The Stelvio is so well shielded or has such poor radiation that, especially in low-light conditions, the GPS signal on the phone is insufficient inside the car.

The solution would be to use the Stelvio’s GPS antenna. Is there a way to do this without having to dismantle the entire dashboard?

Even simpler: Where in the Stelvio is the GPS signal strongest?

Thank you very much, Peter

I found a workaround. There are two cupholders in front of the dashboard. I put a phone holder in one of them. This gives the phone a sort of 360-degree view of the sky and therefore the satellites. It worked well today; we’ll see if it still works in snow and fog.
