Import multiple tracks

Hi there.

Is it possible to import from a gpx contains multiple tracks?
They now seem to Merge to one

Yes.

You should see this. Click.

A list of included waypoints, routes and tracks are shown. De-select / select what you need.

Thats what in see yes.

But it creates one route out of 9 tracks.
Should i import them one by one then?

If you select all, then it might be messy, as everything is considered as one. As you can only edit one route - yes, one by one.

Thanks,

Reason for asking..
I never used Kurviger for navigating, only for planning routes
Created a route, yes, one by one.
Exported them as track and then converted to route in the XT and navigate.
But i also use third party routes.

So now its the other way around.
I need to import tracks into kurvigen. That always becomes a route. Tweek them a bit to be equal to the track.
Can i force a imported route into a new ar existing folder?

Having to import them one by one seems quite a step back.
But hen again, maybe just need to get used to it.

I do not understand what you mean with “force” - I guess you want to choose one folder once and every route after should be saved to same folder.

If yes, this is missing but you can give a vote for it at the top. Edit just seen it is for favorite, frim my point also valic for route folder(?)

In case you would get a zip-file with 9 routes it would be the same.

I do not know how other software are handling auch packages. You see in my screenshot, that the numbers of routes and tracks are not equal, some want only the tracks, others routes. If you have an idea, always welcome.

Voted for it.

If you have a zip file it contains individual files.
If i have a gpx it has content..
Waypoints, Tracks, Routes.
Opening a track in kurvigen means you convert a track to a route.
So if there are multiple tracks in a GPX i would expect them to ben converted to individual routes, into one folder.
And the routes should b be identical to the track.

As far as i know…kurviger does not know any tracks…at least i have not discovered a way to save ar route as a track.
I can only load the route as an overlay.

By the way. This functionality exists for one or two months. You are lucky - before you had to split the package.gpx in a separate tool into individual gpx-files before import.
It’s a 5 minute task, and such big files are rare, I guess.

The import optimizer does it’s best, mostly a few manual corrections are required. A route cannot be exact where streets are not routable. But having the original data available would be nice, I think.

Read this a few times now. But (surely) only as track or as “raw” file, not as route. Then from this raw-data “normal” conversion to a route, for example. Would be comfortable.

The Kurviger-cloud is no file-system as on the PC. Having all in one place, perhaps even other documents or pictures, everywhere available, sounds good. For this import of multiple tracks completely oversized, but in general a good point (only my opinion).

Thanks, that certainly helps!

I left the PC and tools like Mapsource/BaseCamp 10 years ago.
Again, I am looking at what I have, probably just need to find a new ‘Best Practice’
Garmin Stores the Content in the Cloud. Just more variations than Kurviger.
Waypoints, Tracks, Routes, Adventures

So my current way of working is only to store the Waypoints and Tracks. Not that I use waypoints a lot but very now and then.
The device is connected to the cloud, has access to all the raw data like tracks, these tracks are converted to a route on the device.
New since the XT is that Garmin does a great job with these conversions. The routes (the path of the Route) are almost always identical to the track.
That is important when using third party routes because otherwise every body would have different routes.
If Kurviger (Android Auto / Car Play) is to be a alternative for fixed navigation it needs to be able to handle third party content as well. Preferably without having to do to much correction

I created a little screen recording.
I had been experimenting with another file last week.
With the two first routes of the file I used today the conversion is perfect. So no complaints there.
But as you can See I need to do it one by one.
I would like to see that you select multiple tracks, a folder where they need to go and settings like optimisation. And the import is then done for all selected content.

Just Noticed that the name for the individual tracks are lost in the process as well.
So in addition to do it in one run the original names of content should be used as ‘Name’ field in the folder

I would say it is very, very close.

Btw, perpaps I directed you to a wrong direction. You do no have always to import each route or track separately - only if you want each as one route. You can decide also two or more parts with/without track to import, and to build something new and to split later as you want. This semi-automatic process is very flexible.

Not shown in the video - you know how to fix these two deviations?

absolutely agree
