Problem
Even when I set Kurviger to Metric (length = metric), the turn-by-turn navigation distance still showed imperial units (miles).
This happened on:
- Android
- Phone screen (not Android Auto)
- Both Live Navigation and Simulate Navigation
Every thing else remained metric, but the turn-by-turn screen showed miles.
What I tried
- Restarting the app
- Restarting the phone
- Verifying that new and old routes both affected the turn-by-turn screen
Cause / Workaround (based on my findings)
Switching the app language affected the navigation unit formatting:
- When the app language was English, navigation distance appeared in imperial.
- When switching the app language away from English (Spanish to be precise), navigation returned to metric.
- When switching back to English, the navigation remained metric.
Final Solution
If you see miles in turn-by-turn navigation while using metric settings, try doing the same as me.

This seems like a unit-formatting bug related to the language setting. Please consider fixing so units stay consistent regardless of language (when the metric setting is enabled).
