Dear community,
I’ve recently become a user and subscriber of the app. So far, I like everything very much. Coming from other applications, I’m a fan of offline map data. In those, downloading map data works by country (possibly further divided into regions) and the maps are updated regularly. I find this solution much more convenient than the small map squares that I have to juggle with Kurviger, which apparently also don’t get updated (?).
Maybe more people feel the same way I do and my suggestion goes down well..
Best regards, Scharmorzel
Welcome to the forum,
Country by country would be nice, I’d like that too. But it also has its downsides; the offline maps include a lot of detail, so they also take up a lot of space. When starting the app and using navigation, a huge amount of storage would probably be required—would older phones be able to handle that?
The map tiles turn yellow after about 14 days, at which point there’s an update command.
Meanwhile, I barely download any tiles anymore—just two for my hometown, or wherever I’m staying longer.
Last time it was a few more for Switzerland…
As far as I understand, offline navigation with offline maps does not work. A data connection is always required for navigation.
…not entirely correct; you only briefly need the internet to recalculate a route, which also downloads the necessary map data—about 300m to the left and right of the route. Navigation itself does not need a connection. So you can zigzag all across Switzerland without a data connection.
Hi Ilias,
here you can find a detailed description of offline navigation:
I prefer it this way,
because HH is so far away, I need Germany, Switzerland, Austria around Lake Constance, 200 km, that way I’m sorted every weekend

Hi,
I only download the tiles for the planned tour. At the destination, I plan a circular route and download those tiles as well. Then I look at the downloaded maps and maybe download one or two more tiles. That goes pretty quickly. At the destination, I only need internet briefly for the calculation.
Do you always do it that way because you’re used to it, or because / when you travel in internet-free areas, or simply to save data?
I evaluated this some time ago here: Navigation mit offline karten - #15 by Toffel
I use an 8-inch Oukitel tablet for navigation. Rugged and cheap. The performance is completely sufficient. While navigating, I don’t have an internet connection. I turn on a hotspot on my smartphone for recalculations. But only when I can’t figure it out visually. I’ve mounted the tablet above the display of my KTM Super Adventure.

was probably meant as „the page is freezing“, but sure yeah …
Our maps are updated daily; if someone really wants to, they could download them fresh every day or just go to the Offline Maps Manager every now and then and hit update.
