This week in Luxemburg discovered the overlay is no longer showing een navigating in Android Auto.
A couple of weeks ago this was still working but seems to have disappeared.
I used to see the overlay within the blue route/path as a dotted line. And if not in sync with the route as a red dotted line.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page: you can see the overlay of your route in the planning view, but not in the navigation on your AA device? Or is the overlay also not visible in the planning view?
Have you tried deleting the overlay and then loading it again?
Sometimes it can help to start the navigation on the smartphone and not just from AA.
Exactly
The overlay is present on the smartphone
But not on the AA
Did a reset of the app and reloaded.
Now they show again.
Will experiment a little the next weeks.

I was able to reproduce it now.
If i load the overlay by adding it from the cloud folder separately then it works.
But if i only have the overlay from the current route, then it does not work.
Yes, we don’t show the overlay of the current route in the navigation (AA or regular navigation), because that will overlay the actual route negatively. We experimented with that and it was not a great experience. Sorry 
BTW: you can store the current route as an additional overlay (other than the loaded route) and that should show up, so this is a workaround, if you really want that.
