Parameter Avoid highway = 5

Hello Team,
I have been using Kurviger for a few months and the product meets my expectations. However, I have just finished a trip to Bavaria with a problem that I could not solve.

To get to Bavaria I had a one-way journey of 450km. Everything worked perfectly (recalculation after deviation, etc…) However at one point I had to take a road closed by a construction site and I no longer had a choice, I had to get on the motorway (my settings were Avoid motorways = 5). Once on the highway I expected Kurviger to recalculate the route and suggest the next exit. But nothing happened, no more guidelines, information, etc… just the map without information. I got out at the next exit but Kurviger didn’t regain control…I shut down my phone (Android), restarted and reloaded my itinerary but Kurviger sent a message that he didn’t know how to reload the itinerary. I had to finish my route using Google Maps.

When the avoid motorway parameter=5, Kurviger no longer considers the motorway in a route recalculation?

For the rest everything went perfectly.

Hi Charles,

welcome to the forum

One hint from my side: turn all avoidances off. You can set the desired routing type (fastest to extra curvy) in the route options between each waypoint. The only avoidance that I switched on is gravel roads. I made the experience that avoidances sometimes produce strange behaviour of the app, so use them less as possible.

In your described case it looks to me like you left the origin route and kurviger did not manage to recalculate to the origin route from your actual position. I had this behaviour too and can only offer a workaround.

  1. Stop somewhere
  2. End the actual route in the app
  3. restart the navigation for the actual route and choose option ‘navigate from here’ (not sure if the english wording is correct). Then you should be guided to the next waypoint/shaping point of your origin route.

Salut Günther,
Thank you for your answer. I used your solution directly when I exited the highway but the application gave me a message such as that my journey was too long to send it to me (I only had +/- 120 kms left). I can’t remember the exact message content.

Hi Charles,

this behaviour of the app sounds to me like you had a bad internet connection paired with a longer route. However, this does not really solve your problem. Yet it is still an issue with recalculation and no or bad internet connection.

In such case it helps to try to get back to the origin route on your own and then turn on the navigation again - normally this works even less internet connection.
