I finished my round trip navigation (which Kurviger generated and did a great job of it). I didn’t realise my internet connection had dropped. I wanted to save the ride and clicked the box to save. Kurviger came back with an error of “unable. Display error details, post in forum”. I reestablished the connection and tried to save it again, and despite having a valid connection I was not able to recover from the error. The error message was displayed again and again.
It appears the only way to recover was to cancel the save, and thereby lose the information.
A better solution would be for the save to happen locally and then transfer to the cloud once the connection is established.
Mhm, once there is a connection it should work again. What you could have tried is to restart the app. But usually this should work automatically again when you have a valid internet connection.
Maybe you can share your debug string (from Kurviger settings)
I agree, this is something we do have on our list.
I can understand why this may not appear to be a major issue from a European perspective, where mobile coverage is exceptionally good. Here in Australia, however, the vast majority of the landmass has no mobile coverage, and the same applies to many remote riding areas in other parts of the world. Being offline for hours, if not days, during a ride is perfectly normal.
I ran into exactly this problem today. I was recording in Follow Mode and then wanted to switch to Navigation. Saving failed because there was no internet connection, and I could not leave Follow Mode without either saving or discarding the recording. The only practical option was to discard it, so the complete track was lost.
For me, the ideal behaviour would be very simple:
Save the recording locally first, then automatically sync it to Kurviger Cloud when a connection becomes available.
That would make ride recording reliable regardless of mobile coverage, instead of depending on having an internet connection at exactly the moment when the ride needs to be saved.
Thanks for adding to the discussion @SaatanaJJ
I can absolutely understand the problem (don’t overestimate Europe e.g. Germany in that regard though ). It’s frustrating that you weren’t able to save your ride recording because of that!
