Hello , est ce que l ’ équipe de Kurviger prévoit un jour de pouvoir utiliser l ’ application de Navigation sans connexion à internet .
Pour le moment il faut être connecter pour démarrer une route et pour recalculer la route si on quitte cette dernière .
Les cartes pouvant être téléchargés et Kurviger ne donnant pas d ’ informations spécifiques genre information sur traffic , ne peut on pas trouver une solution pour rendre l ’ application indépendante
We do have offline route calculation on our list, that said, this is really a long-term issue that is quite tricky to work around.

Und zwar eine solche wie bei Calimoto. D.h. ohne Zusatzprogramme ( Brouter )
Eigenartigerweise funktioniert es meines wissens nur bei CM so.
Alle anderen Apps benötigen Brouter. Gibt es dafür spezielle Gründe ?
…na BRouter bietet eigene Routenberechnung, die von anderen Anwendungen genutzt werden kann.
Kurviger geht bei der Berechnung aber eigene Wege. Damit sind die Algorithmen nicht vergleichbar. Eine technische Lösung den Kurviger Algorithmus auf dem Handy laufen zu lassen ist halt noch offen.
Rein aus Interesse. Wie hat Calimoto das gelöst das ja ohne Brouter auskommt.
Diese Lösung wäre auch für kurviger wünschenswert.
Ist es eigentlich immer noch so, dass Kurviger, wenn keine Internetverbindung besteht, bei der Neuberechnung einer Route automatisch die schnellste Route nimmt?
Das ist mir einmal passiert (ist aber schon sehr lange her). Ich hatte keine Internet-Verbindung, war mir dessen aber nicht bewusst.
In diesem Fall wäre ein deutlicher Warnhinweis empfehlenswert, damit man sich dessen bewusst ist und nicht plötzlich auf der Autobahn landet…
A “Router” is just a software function, a “quite complex piece of code” if you put it in simpler words. It can run locally on your device, or it can run remotely on a server.
In both cases the router needs access to the map data required for the routing. These are not the pictures we see on our displays, but data about road segments and road joints.
In order for navigation to work offline you have to have all three components available locally on your device (mobile phone):
- router software function
- road data required for calculation
- visualisation of the maps
Additionally, you would also need data about places and their coordinates to be able to perform offline search.
Offline routing increases required calculation power and amount of data stored on your phone, intrinsically increasing the complexity of the app.
So, it is not a technological marvel, but it requires more development resources (manpower/time) compared to combining the app with already available solutions.

Und es gibt Navigation-Apps die BRouter intern (per API) aufrufen. Dadurch muss sich der Anwender nicht mit BRouter-Downloads und -Profilen beschäftigen. Wenn ich dann noch nur ein Segment der gesamten Route separat neu berechnen kann … alles paletti.

Il ne faut pas prendre cette fonction à la légère , de plus en plus de mes amis motards veulent remplacer la solution du GPS traditionnel par une application , par contre veulent pouvoir l utiliser hors connexion

I acknowledge this is an older post, but I couldn’t find a more recent one on the topic. However, I noticed there have been quite a few posts covering the same issue.
I’ve used Garmin Zumo XT devices for years, but due to worsening issues with the Tread app I recently moved to a DMD‑NOR7E setup, using Kurviger as my primary navigator. I’m based in Australia, where mobile coverage is often limited or unavailable in many of the areas we ride.
During adventure riding, rides rarely go as planned. Track closures, weather, road conditions, and simple navigation changes often mean the route must be adjusted mid‑ride. In those situations there is usually no network coverage, so a new route cannot be created and a lot of time is wasted trying to find the next best option.
At least to me, and possibly to many other riders as well, offline route calculation is critical—but it is not available in the current version of Kurviger.
I would like to formally request full offline route calculation support. For riders in regions with poor coverage, this would make Kurviger much more usable and more reliable as an all‑you‑need navigation tool, and a real option to replace more established products like Garmin.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We completely understand why this is important, especially for adventure rides in areas with poor or no network coverage. We have the topic on our list. However, this is a fairly complex technical issue and more of a long-term project.
