Hello community,
I am just wondering if my own and self created POIs and Favorites in the standard Favorites- and POI-Folder of the Kurviger Website are automatically online and publicly visible and available for everyone?
Because if I try to add a photo to a certain POI it says that it can be seen from everyone else as well…
If so I couldn´t take just an existing photo just out of the internet because of legal concerns, it needed to be one of my own taken photos.
So can someone pls clarify which data is going “public” in Kurviger and which remains private so to speak.
Thanks!
Hi @RoboMobile ,
The information that the photo can be seen publicly only appears when you upload photos to a public POI. That’s why the button is called “Contribute photo”.
When you upload a photo for a personal favorite you have created yourself, the photo, like the favorite itself, is only visible to you.
That means if I call up a location from the favorites cloud to upload images, no images will be published, even if I created this favorite directly from a Kurvider POI, right?
UPDATE: I can answer my own question… what I wrote above is not correct. I personally find this a little confusing. But okay.
The POIs in the favorites folders in “my” cloud remain private, as do the photos. The latter are even not copied when exported.
Photos that are assigned to POIs in the “Kurviger POI database”, on the other hand, are visible to all Kurviger users. However, each photo is marked with the user ID of the uploader. But this is not the real name. Example: Kesselbergstraße
The extent to which copyrights can be infringed even within a closed Kurviger community would have to be clarified.
My point was…
I can add two places to my favourites (I chose the same place on purpose here), one from the Kurviger-POI (blue arrow) and one from OSM-POI (red arrow):
In the Favourites folder it is very difficult to distinguish, which is “public” and which “private”:
The only clue would be, that Kurviger-POIs have no “Camping” category, but I am not sure if the average user has this on his mind all the time.
So, although both places are in your own cloud “My Favourites” folder, in one of those favorites you will be publicly contributing pictures for everyone to see and not be able to upload private pics:
While in the other, you will be able to upload only private photos and they will not be publihed publicly:
Maybe adding a similar hint:
for the private photos would bring more clarity for the users, what happens when they press “Add photo”.
They have that category for some time now ![]()
We see the problem and will have a look at it.
Sorry, I misunderstood. I assumed you meant adding a campsite via the search function, for example, as opposed to categorizing one of your own favorites as a campsite (we added campsites there not too long ago).
This way you can have a campground (public POI) and a campground (personal favorite) in your favorites in the cloud. Same problem: difficult to distinguish
