Simultaneous Display / Navigation on Phone and Apple CarPlay

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that when using the Kurviger app with Apple CarPlay, it seems I have to choose between having the navigation active on the iPhone screen or on the CarPlay display.

Some other navigation apps allow simultaneous display on both devices—for example, showing the main route guidance on the CarPlay screen while keeping a detailed route overview, turn list, or secondary map view active on the phone screen.

Is this limitation currently by design, or are there any plans to enable dual-screen / simultaneous use for both Apple CarPlay and the phone in a future release?

Having the app active on both screens at the same time would be a fantastic quality-of-life feature for road trips and complex route planning on the go.

Thanks for all the great work on Kurviger!

Best regards,

Peres

Really? You would use two screens just for the navigation with the same app?

The eyes should be on the road…

Maybe I misunderstood your use case?

It’s about complementary information, not dual distraction! CarPlay handles the live turn-by-turn view, while the phone can show a full route overview or the upcoming waypoint list at a quick glance without having to switch menus on the move. If the question is about keeping the eye on the road you shouldn’t use a screen in the first place. Actually this is about optimizing the information in a way that you actually can look more at the road. Should mention that I drive a car not a bike.

Hi @Peres,
Thank you for your input!

Yes.

Kurviger had that too in the beginning.

I think there are relatively few users who actually have both of these devices (phone and CP/AA) attached to their motorcycle handlebars and would use such a feature. Then there’s also the question of the use case/ great benefit. That said, we do not currently plan on reintroducing the function.
