When working on routes several times I do changes which have no impact on route length and duration (eg. adding viapoints on route, toggling between viapoint and shapingpoint).
If I want to restore such a route from history, it is difficult to see which is the desired route.
Therefore I suggest to show the number of Via- and Shapingpoints in history.
Thanks for bringing this up, I am note sure how typical this use case is? Can you maybe tell me a bit more about the use case? And if others need this, maybe you could also explain your use case briefly?
Oh yes, typical Case
During planing in the Hotel, you are talking , checking different options, interupt by your travel Partner… ![]()
… again and again. ![]()
That I have to restore a not saved route from history happens now and then - fortunately not so frequently.
But I change routes very often that way: 1st I plan the route (e.g. only with 2 waypoints start and destination), afterwards I add all mountain passes (POIs from Kurviger or favorites/overlay) on the route as viapoints, because I like it to have it as viapoints during navigation (this does neither change length of route nor duration).
And @Hampic has already shown an other (for me) typical usecase: Although durations / lengths of routes differ, I do not know which was the favoured route in the history - but information about number of Via-points and Shaping-points might help …
Isn’t this what you would use the undo function for? Or if you want to store different version of the same route, I’d use the cloud and name them differently?
How do you use the route history there? Because this is still the same route, but with a different number of points? How do you create multiple version of the same route? Do you load them from the cloud / files again?
To be honest: For me it is not clear, when a new entry in history is created.
But an example:
I have been working on a route before, but was interrupted.
Later I read something in Kurviger forum and klicked (tapped) on a route link → route I was working on before ist “lost”, route link is opened.
Later on I try to get back my route I was working on - but the best route sometimes is not the lastest one, so I would like to have some more information in display of history, the number of via- / shaping points would be very helpful.
But if this would mean much effort, I do not insist on that (of course) - but it would not need much space, an additional text behind distance like “, 12VPs, 4SPs” would be sufficient:
Viapoint / Shapingpoint icons instead of “VPs” and “SPs” might save space and might be easier to understand …
The Pictures shows, in real Life, you have easily more than one Versions of the same Route in the History, so the suggestion of rumbrummer is very hellpfull.
To clarify my previous question. I am not questioning that you have the same route duplicated multiple times.
I wanted to understand how you are using the route history right now and how these multiple entries are created.
Sure, we can show the number of WPs. We could also think about showing the WPs in the preview (might be a bit too much). I feel like there is an underlying problem and we should probably solve that.
To me it feels like the route history is maybe used instead of storing routes to the cloud or files? The route history was not designed as an alternative place to store routes. It is no problem to use it for that, but it is not optimized for it.
Ok, but the latest one was the last route you had loaded? So you are using the route history like a way to experiment with the route? How do you load / store the routes in between?
Robin is probably right, in my case the base topic is that I do not save early/often enough.
Usually (when editing a route) I do not store after each modification.
If I think my las change (e.g. adding/removing a point) was not useful, I just try to use use the back button.
But if I am lost due to too many changes, an interruption or due to clicking on an Kurviger link in beetween, I try to get a previous version (which I assume to be better) via history - without knowing the rule when a history entry is created.
Several times restoring a (better) previous version was possible, but also sometimes not (but then probably also showing number of via-/shapingpoints will not help).
Same at me, save a route only during planing far future. Planning from day to day… I don’t safe the Route.
Thanks for your feedback, we will reevaluate the situation and see what we can do about this ![]()

and you did some work at the histrory in the last days, visible in website. not yet in app. Now the actual route in planning is set to the top of the history list, even when loaded from older routes in the history list
. Perhaps we will see it in the next update of the app too
.
Perhaps a possibility to edit the route name(s) in the history list could improve this.
Just an idea when using the history in the last days: Pencil-icon (for editing the route name) in front of the X-icon (for deleting from the list).
Yes, we fixed a bug in the route history and that will be updated in the next version of the app as well ![]()
I’m not sure if this helps but if I make any changes I save it as a new route with same name , but opt. 1 , opt.2 etc…
