Hello,
When searching a Waypoint with Kurviger Open Route Services, results are missing VS Open Route Service website.
Search example : “Chabanne” in France
Kurviger propose 7 results / ORS website : 12 results.
Unfortunately, the Chabanne France locality is missing. (What I’m looking for).
Any reason concerning results limitation?
I love this app…
Have a good day
In your first screenshot alone, I can already see two places with the name Chabanne. Google Maps finds several more places with this name. Which one are you looking for? A postcode would be helpful.
If you put this in front of the name, you may find your location more quickly, z.B.:
The postal code is 63450.
But the main problem is that on Kurviger, not all Open Route Services results appear.
I don’t understand why the list isn’t the same. Some places are missing.
Thanks for your quick answer.
Having numerous results is not a problem.
But it seems the result shown in green in ORS doesn’t appears in Kurviger.
May you send the coordinates for Chabanne please? I think it is displayed also in OSM (Open Street Maps) on which Kurviger is based. I am just curious what OSM shows behind the coordinates, hopefully we can at least identify what is shown in OSM there to get a clue why it does not appear in your search results.
You mentioned Open Route Service - this is definitely a different data source then OSM, therefore you have deviations in the result’s list.
@Jerome is referring to the search engine used by Kurviger, displayed at the bottom of the search list:
You can go directly to the website openrouteservice.org and perform the same search and some of the results will be omitted. I have also noticed this. It is a bit irritating because the closest and thus for me most relevant results are omitted. Why? No idea.
To illustrate it on a more simple example. I am looking for “Lidl” (both websites have access to my location and the map is centered on it:
This is what I got from maps.openrouteservice.org (all results within 600km radius)
And this is what I get from kurviger.de using the OpenRouteService search engine (first result on Philippines!?):
Obviously, the search engine knows the locations that would be of more interest to me, but Kurviger omits them completely. I hope it is only a matter of a wrong argument passed to the search engine API and this can be fixed quickly.
You’ve got it @t00thl355
Hello, here are the coordinates : 45.63491407704228, 3.020568010268919
This post is very relevant for me
Yes, we limit the number of search results, for many searches there might be over 1000 search results, so we hav to limit it to some number, this is currently 7 from the geocoding and might contain additional results from favorites etc.
I do not think the number of results is the issue, but the relevance. In the example above, I’d be much more satisfied with the results coming directly from the openrouteservice.org, then those offered by kurviger.de
It almost feels like kurviger got the sorting order reversed and shows the last 7 results instead of first 7 relevant results.
I can’t get my head around the fact that I am centered on a small area in Germany and get the result in Philippines on the top of the list.
