What is the POI category for a BBQ area?

Hello,

Kurviger has a very useful feature that allows searching not by the name of a POI, but by the POI category name. This type of search returns many more useful results.

For example, when I want to search for campsites, I type camp in the search field and then click on the line that appears:

“Campingplatz in diesem Bereich suchen”

I use the German version of Kurviger. In this case, Kurviger recognizes the category Campingplatz and then shows these places on the map. The same method works very well for searching for supermarkets and hotels.

However, I have not found any way to search for a place where I can stop during a trip and prepare food on a gas stove. I tried many search terms, for example:

picn
fire
bbq
grill
tab
rast
feuer
shel
tisch
bike
tour

but none of them gave the needed category.

My question is about this “und mehr” part.

Where can I find the complete list of POI categories known to Kurviger?

At the moment, to search for BBQ areas or places where open fire is allowed in Europe, I have to use another website that can search directly in the OpenStreetMap database. I would prefer to do this directly in Kurviger if such a category exists.

At the moment there is no such category specifically. But we could definitely add something like Fire pit or picnic area.

You already found it: The “and more” part basically means that we’re always adding new categories to the list. But I’ll take your request as an opportunity to check if any new categories have been added recently and add them to the Knowledge Base Article. :wink:
