App: Zoom with bluetooth remote control

The same problem with me. If the remote control goes into sleep mode, the navigation is interrupted :face_with_raised_eyebrow:Hope with the next update it will work for me too

You can try Kurviger 1.13.16 (Beta) to see if the issue with your device is solved.

Thanks for quick reply.
Beta version is too risky for me, I will wait for the regular update

Improved in Kurviger 1.13.17.

I just updated to 1.13.17. What can I say. Zooming with the Pearl remote control now works perfectly. Thank you for the update.! Automatic zooming works great in 90% of cases. Only sometimes does it make it easier to operate the zoom manually. This now works perfectly with the remote control for just 7 euros :grin:

I always envied the BMW riders for the control wheel on their left handlebar and its map-zooming function with the BMW Nav System.

My Android smartphone with Kurviger on it works nicely, but lacks this easy zooming option because nobody can use the phones tiny loudness buttons to zoom the map in or out with gloves on! Kurviger supports the zooming nicely (including “back to normal” with the “Play” button) but I found no appropriate hardware for this feature. I know several other after market control tools and always found them either slightly overdone and way too expensive or just too tiny and inappropriate on the bike.

Now I found a lovely little gadget which not only does the job in a well desinged manner (big buttons! limited, focused funtionality) but also dirt cheap (15,- to 20,- Euro). It is actually designed for music control while riding, but since Kurviger uses the sound buttons to control the zooming, it can be used for the zooming instead. It has “+” and “-” for zoom in and out and also a Play-button for the zoom-back-to-normal function, plus the usual skip-forward and -backward buttons which are obsolete in this set up. The 5 buttons in a row are big, sep up on a solid black bar and completely waterproof (IPX4). The device connects via Bluetooth (5.0; so doesn’t block further Bluetooth devices) and has a battery which will be charged with USB-C. Yes, it comes from China, but I bought and tested it with the Kurviger App on my Android smartphone (Oukitel WP5) and it works like a charme. It comes with a charger cable, a usefull wearing strap (arm etc.) and an alternative 3M sticker-pad.

The name of the thingy on the package is “SmartRemote” which is not significant enough to find it… Another brand name might be “Annadue”. So you might want to search for it with lie “Bluetooth 5.0 Auto Bluetooth Controller Bluetooth Media Button for IOS and Android”. Look for a black bar with 5 black buttons in a row and a strap attached on both sides of the bar.

You mean something like this

or this?

I ordered both to check to what extent they could be used as a remote control for different Apps.

Meanwhile I will use the opportunity to kindly request more support for simple remote controllers in Kurviger… I suggest to put it on the voting list.

Hello,

sorry I have to say it directly but this Ali crap really gets on my nerves and then the stuff has to be transported halfway around the world. There are such great solutions that are technically perfect and nobody needs this cheap shit.

Yes, good solutions are expensive, but you’re not going to ride a motorcycle made in China, are you?

Take a look at the following solutions, for example.

I guess @Hobbyfahrer said it correctly.

Last week I bought this one. Sounds great, but only 3 buttons usable. Not in the sense, it is broken or it does not make the promised things. In the sense, I can only reuse 3 functions for some other magic. Ok, it was just to play, never wanted to mount this on my bike. Maybe sufficient for my bicycle

Sorry for off-topic. I’ve read here of BarButtons and tried to contact the owner, because of two questions. Absolutely no response.
Does anybody knows how to contact him? Is there something special to know?
Thanks juschka

BB is made by hand by a person in Holland. He may be on vacation at the moment.

What questions do you have?

Well, my Honda is assembled in Japan, so it also had to travel halfway around the world. And certain parts for it surely came from China or other countries. On AliExpress - yes it is mostly cheap, but not everything you order is a low quality and disfunctional. I ordered those two controllers for my test purposes, because my project won’t earn me any money and I would not pay 250-300€ just to try if something works on my desk.

So… back to the topic… if there is interest in higher quality remote controllers suited for motorcycles - this would be also a webpage to visit:

For those interested just in quality motorcycle pushbuttons and do not mind making the controller themselves I found also this site:

https://motogadget.com/collections/taster

And there is a complete DIY Project here, similar to BarButtons:

Interesting gadget. Approximate size is 2.4cmx3.5cm. I tried it out with Samsung 10e. Not quite what I expected, but still…

On :arrow_backward::arrow_forward::arrow_up_small::arrow_down_small: keys it does not send key codes, but swipes. Using the swipes it is possible to move the map in navigation mode. Works not only with Kurviger. The swipes appear to quite long though.

Long press on :arrow_up_small::arrow_down_small: controls the volume, and if you configured Kurviger to use these keys for zoom-in/out, you can also use it for that. It works.

Long pres on :arrow_backward::arrow_forward: skips to previous/next song.

Middle button shoud be :pause_button: (pause), but it does not work like that - it works more like “select”.

:house: button takes you to the home screen
 button does not do anything on my phone
:camera: button does not do anything really useful on my phone. It sends alternating volume up/down keycodes. One press - volume up. Next press - volume down. Next - volume up… and so on. The increase/decrease is not significant - only one step, so i cannot really imagine what I could use it for. It is maybe a “secret code” to control camera. No idea.

That’s it. Not really suitable for motorcycle without modifications, but still some useful functionality with Kurviger.
