Apple CarPlay

March 15th? Optimistic… let’s see how the Team reacts to this.

Will this be your first experience with CarPlay on a Motorcycle?

There’s a German proverb: never lose hope, because miracles happen every day .

Yes, this is my first experience with CarPlay. Previously, I navigated either with Garmin or with apps on the iPhone.

Ok, just be aware that Carplay (and Android Auto) have noticable limitations compared to standalone devices an even apps on the phone. It is not screen-mirroring. I’d suggest to have a “Plan B” for Greece in case you get irritated by the things that Carplay cannot do and you might be used to have (e.g., Kurviger on your smartphone and a corresponding mounting bracket).

I will test the Carpuride extensively in the near future (unfortunately with TomTom for the time being) and then I will know more. Of course, I’ll also be taking the BMW mount for the iPhone with me to Greece.

If you want, I have a 30% discount with Carpuride.
For a BMW, I suggest the W619B.
I made several long trip with Chigee and Carpuride using Carplay. The limitation is all about apps.
Apps don’t have all features, which is not the bigger deal, the big deal are the bugs due to a poor software (from the app).
That’s why I hope to have the Kurviger one very soon to scrap Calimoto (I tried as well Scenic and Sygic).
Hope Kurviger will do a good job … I am very confident when I see the webapp. I just hope it will come soon, before to start the high season.

You can also use the Kurviger discount  - with 32% discount:

We are working on it, we can’t promise any dates.

Thanks, but its too late.

Thanks, but the new Carpuride will be delivered today.

I recently moved from BMW CRC with iPhone to Carpuride 702BS.
As BMW app is not supporting Carplay, I thought to use Kurviger, but without success. Any plans to make it available for Carplay?
Which other app can you recommend to use with Kurviger-planned tours? Waze is not able to import.

I have also moved from BMW CRC with iPhone to Carpuride 702BS. Now I’m eagerly waiting for the Kurviger team to complete the CarPlay project.
Until then, I’ll be navigating with TomTom or Calimoto.

Hello Kurviger team

Hope that Applecarplay is your top priority because without that functionality Kurviger loses it’s meaning

Maybe you could elaborate that opinion a bit, to better understand what is important for you?

The main reason to purchase Kurviger is to create routes with it and use them directly through the Kurviger app in carplay in my car and/or on the bike. And so that won’t happen until Kurviger is accepted by Apple.

Hmmm… it’s not really (only) about Apple acceptance. There is a lot of development work to be done to be able to support Carplay. It is not a screen mirroring. You can still navigate using your Phone display until Carplay is available. Are you using an external Carplay device (like Carpuride) on your bike, or is it built-in by the OEM?

Yes I use Chigee on my bike and of course it is impossible to use my iphone for that so carplay is essential. Strange thing is that last May in my Porsche Kurviger worked fine via carplay. How is that possible?

Was it really CarPlay or some other app like EasyConnect or in the past MirrorLink that does screen mirroring?

Perhaps, something like this:

Nowdays, app programmers have to invest quite a big programming effort to adapt to CarPlay (and Android Auto) user interface and its limited set of commands. It is like programming a new, somewhat smaller app. This has been done to standardize the look and feel of the apps on the car screen and reduce the driver distraction. For us users it means that the amount of available display customizations will be reduced comared to what you can do on your phone screen.

No, I am quite sure it was Kurviger via carplay

That’s why I’m so surprised that it doesn’t (anymore) work via carplay now; was perhaps a beta version that did work in carplay?
