Off-line routing and a few minor wishes.

Hello developer team,

I have used Kurviger for many years.

It’s a near perfect app.

Very easy to create a route.

Very easy to tweak a route using via or shape.

Strengt of avoidances is brilliant.

A small but annoying thing is that visibility of smaller roads requires very detailed zoom.

So much that the overview is lost.

A setting, maybe a slider would be great.

Another minor “bug” in the routing is weird detours for no reason. Off one road for one or a few km and then back to the same road.

Must always zoom out to check if a turn is legit or a stupid detour.

The huge limitation/problem:

Users have asked about off-line routing many times.

The answer has always been '“Not possible”

Will you ever implement a solution?

Needed when traveling in countries without roaming or bad cell coverage.

I have tried DMD2. It’s a mess.

Not intuitive nor easy to use.

New major makeover in the works but I’m skeptical it will ever be as easy and user-friendly as Kurviger.

I have spent hours studying Osmand videos.

Extremely capable but to complicated.

Stegra latest release has introduced off-line routing.

Looks promising. A bit expensive.

I do really hope for a solution soon.

Best regards/Chris

Hey Biker,

Using a predefined route with off-line maps is not the same as creating a route when off-line.

Does not solve my need.

When I travel, routes are never planned in advance.

Usually the route for the day is made on the fly in the moment. The whole trip is usually not very precisely planned. May change because of wether for example.

It’s not practical to plan 10000 km trips in detail.

Kurviger is mostly amazing but are losing to other apps implementing off-line routing. For example Stegra.

Hope the developer team would care to share their priorities and plans for off-line routing.

/Chris

Welcome to the forum.

In such cases it is always helpful to share an example route.

The developers can than test changes against these examples.

There’s a separate thread where such digressions are collected

Hello @Christian.Lindblom ,
Thank you for your detailed feedback and for explaining why offline routing is important to you.

The topic is on our list but we can’t share a timeline for this at the moment.
