Since the update to 3.5.6 (Android version) the Kurviger App (active Tourer+ yearly subscription) won’t start navigation anymore. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pre planned route, a route from A to B, or a generated round trip: they all refuse to start navigation. Other navigation apps on my device do work.
For example: after making a route from A to B, I press “Start Navigation” and nothing happens. To be precise: the only thing I see happening is that the Android top bar (time, battery status, bluetooth and WIFI symbol) start flickering and moving left to right very fast. I find no difference between “recalculate route” on or off. This keeps on going until I restart the app or it crashes by itself.
Things I have tried that didn’t help solve this:
- Restart my device
- Reinstall the app
- Log out and in again
- Generate round trip and start navigation
- Generate A to B trip and start navigation
- Load and start a planned route
- Start the route on WIFI
- Start the route on personal hotspot
Unfortunately I cannot upload attachments as a new user. I have a screen recording of what happens: https://youtu.be/F0zH08hbqgA
Debug info:
OSM date stamp: 3/16/2025
Version: 3.5.6
Device: Topicon - T865 - Android: 14 - WebView: 133.0.6943.137
App-Version: 3.5.6 - 4841
Screen: 1138 x 712 px - 1.125dppx
Let me know if you need more information. Any help is appreciated.
Deinstalieren und neuinstalation helfen läuft wieder

Perpaps as quickfix, in case it is urgent and if re-install does not help. You could leave Beta, uninstall and install latest stable (I assume Build 4841 is still beta?!).
Or you wait a lttle bit in case the devs have questions …
Well, I was out for a ride today and only found out it didn’t work after leaving home, so it was urgent but not anymore for me.
I don’t think this is a beta version. I don’t see an option to select beta anywhere, and I certainly didn’t mean to activate this. I use the stock app as far as I know.
I’ll wait and see what the response from others is before doing too much myself.
Thanks for reporting these issues. It’s interesting that somethings seems to be “stuck”.
It’s interesting that reinstalling the app did not solve the issue, in contrast to the other two reports we received.
Can you try what happens if you change the Day / Night settings in your Android settings? I am not sure if you have set your phone to light or dark, but try the other setting.
Have you tried what happens if you use the simulation instead of regular navigation?
Have you ever used Android Auto with Kurviger?
No 4841 is in production for over a week now.
I had it set to “dark mode turns on at sun down”. So dark mode was off, I then turned it on and retried starting navigation: the same problem occurs.
No, I have never used Android auto with kurviger.
I tried this just now: this doesn’t work either and the same problem occurs.
-Edit: thanks for fixing the layout of my response
Ok, thanks for verifying this . One more idea: do you have auto screen rotation on or off in Android? Try the other setting, and try to start the navigation, when the route planning is in landscape. And please let us know if any of these help to fix the issue.
I have auto rotation “on”. After turning it off, the navigation still won’t start and I see the same “flickering” of the symbols as described in my original post. Note I did not restart my tablet (on which Kurviger is installed) after disabling it. Let me know if you’d like me to try that.
I always use the tablet in landscape mode when starting navigation and when using it during navigation. After putting it in portrait mode (?) the navigation still won’t start and I see the same “flickering” of the symbols as described in my original post.
Just FYI: between each “test” I close the Kurviger app by “swiping it away” and restarting it. Let me know if this is not the best approach for testing these possible fixes.
Also, the navigation won’t start on my mobile phone (One Plus Nord 2 5G) either. It has the same symptoms when trying to start navigation: flickering of the top row of symbols (wifi, bluetooth etc.). I hope this doesn’t clutter the original problem, just thought it might help with the troubleshooting.
Debug info for Kurviger on my phone:
OSM-Datumstempel: 18-3-2025
Versie: 3.5.6
Device: OnePlus - DN2103 - Android: 13 - WebView: 133.0.6943.138
App-Version: 3.5.6 - 4841
Screen: 360 x 800 px - 3dppx
Xiaomi Redmi phone:
I can start a planned tour, see it on the display. When I press “Navigation starten” I see the turning circle, but no further activity except flickering statusline.
Note: Works good with Samsung Galaxy.
I am Tourer+
Can you post the debug data of the device where it does not work?
Also check the above messages, for some people deinstalling and reinstalling the app solved the problem.
Yes, that is a good approach (if the app was not started with a symbol in the status bar).
I have one more idea:
@Horst_Gutzki and @FireRider5132 - did you by any chance recently load an old .kurviger file or an old URL?
Just to make sure, please try to open this URL or
this .kurviger file (1.7 KB) on your phone and try to start the simulation or navigation (it’s just a random route, but hopefully this should reset a possible issue that you might had).
No, I’m a new user so I don’t think I have any files like that. I make the routes on Kurviger desktop in my browser and open it on my navigation tablet through the Kurviger app.
I tried this just now: simulate navigation gives the same problem (flickering of the top bar symbols). Start navigation gives the same problem.
Is there any way I can roll back the update as a temporary fix? If this were to happen during a multiple day trip, it would be very annoying. I have an alternative app, but I chose Kurviger for a reason
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep me in the loop please.
Hallo,
Leider keine Verbesserung.

I found the issue, please make sure you grant all permissions for the Kurviger app. It seems that if you decline a permission the app can be stuck. We will fix this issue with the next update, in the meantime, please grant all permissions.
